This month, we’re exploring the theme of energy—because capacity shapes what intention can do.

Week 1

Focus: Reading energy

You know how you can read your child? Like you can tell when they are getting over-tired, or hungry, or are nearing a meltdown? You're reading their energy

This isn't woo-woo (and woo-woo is fine if that's what you're into!), this is very, very real. What you're actually reading are behavior patterns that you've observed and learned over time. This is data that you've (likely subconsciously) stored and learned to trust because of confirmation.

Weekly Challenge:

This week, we're going to work on reading the energies in the room, with specifics!

- What kind of energy is your child displaying - happy, chaotic, wild, sad, moody?

- How do the other energies in the room (likely yours and your coparents) respond? Or how do they set the stage for your child's energy?

- What cues do you typically rely on to let you know where different people's energies are? Can you name these indicators specifically?

As always, please feel free to share as much or as little as you feel inspired to in our WhatsApp Community!

Week 2

Focus: Energy Leaks

The idea of scanning your day-to-day to look for energy leaks probably seems pretty obvious. But when was the last time you did it?

Let's go at least one level deeper than the "it drains me when my kid won't put their shoes on after I already told them 100 times." Though, that's a very good place to start for yourself!

But we also want to know what drains our kids. When our kids are drained, they are not themselves. When they're off, we're off. And when we're off, they're off even more, and so goes the cycle.

Weekly Challenge:

You know I'm gonna tell you to collect data!!!

Your mini challenge is to look for the things that drain energy unnecessarily. See if you can map out what your energy looks like day to day, week to week. What about your child's?

Naturally, there is going to be flux when mini issues (small power struggles, etc) are happening. What we are looking for are the leaks. What are the things that allow a full on drain of energy for you or your kiddo? Those are the things we want to find, name, and work on.

They might be linked to life circumstances, or your own behavior, or a busy schedule.

Week 3

Focus: Rest and Refill

Obviously, now that we are aware of some of our energy leaks, we need to discover what refills us.

Not collapse. Not avoidance. Not "not picking the battle". True refill.

For me, when I'm actively parenting and can't step away, I do something that works for me and I don't worry about making sure everyone else is ok. Sometimes that means getting myself a snack and telling a kiddo, "Nope, this snack is for my body." It might be putting on headphones and blasting music and dancing around while doing dishes. Whatever puts something into my tank!

Weekly Challenge:

Get real with yourself. Don't settle for the moments that feel like "not crisis" - that's not moving the needle in your tank. We need that needle to go up

Think about the things that are realistic -- maybe you can't step away from actively parenting, so go for things that make sense for that situation. Maybe you realize you have to step out of being the active parent to fill your tank. Do the full thought exercise and find the answers that are really, genuinely true for you.

Week 4

Focus: Energy-Aware Design

We've been working hard to read the energies in the room, discover how it leaks and how it recovers. Now we need to put that information to good use!

We don't want to stay in reactive cycles, we want to build proactive systems that work for us.

Weekly Challenge:

Use all that beautiful data collection to inform your daily routines and expectations, and throw away any "shoulds" left lying around! We don't care about what we "should" do, we care about what really works for our individual family. The needs of that constellation take high priority. â€‹â€‹

- What has been shaped based on the "shoulds" and needs to be reshaped based on real energy needs?

- What can be restructured to ensure you are getting your energy refill?

- What expectations can be shifted (of yourself and your child) to appropriately match what each of you have to offer in terms of energy?
